My goal for 2014: Ease

read all about it

Hi Sweet Friends,

In the spirit of unplugging and filling my well before welcoming 2014, I’m keeping today’s blog short and sweet. And I’m really excited about this coming year—not because of monstrous goals or momentous milestones, but because this year is all about ease.

For me, ease at work and at home equals joy, health, creativity and contentment.

Ease connects me to my internal life. The more ease I feel, the more grounded my decisions become. I welcome those things into my life in 2014 and I invite you to join me.

The opposite of ease leads me to unneeded suffering.

I find myself chasing shiny objects, losing sight of my true purpose and saying yes when I mean no. Those things I’m happy to leave behind in 2013 (and even if they crop up again—and they will—returning to my goal of ease will get me back on course).

In order to beckon more flow, we’re called to identify the areas of conflict in our lives. Who or what causes our briefs to bunch up? When we keep ease in mind, there’s no need for lofty resolutions. Aim and plan for ease. That’s enough. Move with ease, observe with ease, evaluate based on ease. Committing to this feeling will totally transform the people and situations you welcome into your life (or not).

I hope this simple seed will grow and blossom in the coming months. I cherish you and I’m so thankful that you’ve joined me on this journey, whether you watched Crazy Sexy Cancer on TLC when it all started, you gave me a hug and a kind word at a book signing, or you’re visiting my blog for the first time. Blessings to you sweet friend.

And now for a little token of my appreciation for you…

I am grateful

Affirmations are extremely powerful. I see that everyday when I post notes of encouragement on my Facebook page. Folks light up and come out of the woodwork! Reading your comments on these posts thrills me to no end. It’s amazing how a few sentences of inspiration can shift someone’s day, flip their perspective or just lift them out of a dark place. As we move into 2014, I want you to know that you have this power too.

2014 Affirmations

I write affirmations for myself first. Then I share them with the world with the hope that they’ll touch your lives in the way that they’ve changed mine. That’s why I created this fun, downloadable PDF with four of my recent Crazy Sexy affirmations. They’re my gift to you, print them, cut them out, use them as a bookmark or post them on your vision board—whatever works. And if you like them, let me know. I’ll keep creating them for ya!

Ok, back to finding more ways for you (and me!) to breathe in 2014 …

Now it’s your turn, how will you embrace more ease in the year ahead?

Peace & exhale,

I love the affirmations. Definitely keep making them 🙂

  2. Aqiyl Aniys says:

I maintain my ease in several ways. The most tangible way is through continuing to eat healthy. I turned my life around when I adopted a well balanced whole food plant based diet around 2 years ago. Since then I haven’t been sick, not even a cold. A side effect of the diet is that I also lost 25lbs and returned to my weight when I was in my 20’s and I am in my 40’s now. My body is clean and my mind is clear which leads to ease.

Yay! Too cool! My word choice for the year 2014, was also “ease”. I love it. Ease in my body, I have recently lost 40 lbs, ease in my work, relationship, day to day life. It was so fun to see that you had chosen ease, too. Loved this blog. Have a blessed and ease filled 2014 <3

  5. Nancy says:

I love how ease encourages us all to slow down and pay attention. To be with others and truly listen is a way I want to incorporate more ease into the year. Sometimes when a person is speaking to me, I’m so busy thinking about how I’m going to respond to her I’m not truly listening and being present with what is.

  6. Denise Dare says:

    Love this, Kris!

Ease and grace…such profound and powerful intentions.

My word for this year is trust.

I trust that I will move with more ease and grace through each challenge and opportunity.

I trust that joy will be my guide.

I trust that I am supported.

I trust that everything is unfolding in perfect time.

I trust that love is all around.

I trust that I am enough.

    I trust.

Wishing you abundance and ease as you move through your days, Kris!

Thank you, always, for your loving kindness.

    xo,

    Denise

  8. Kris Carr says:

Beautiful stuff everyone, thanks for your comments. xo

  9. Lauren says:

How will I embrace more ease in 2014?

I will slow down, breathe, make space by saying no to expectations and yes to my heart.

Breathe, smile, replace judgement with compassion (for self and others), cultivate awareness of where I’m at right now… Repeat.

Lots of words but pretty simple!

    Thank you KC
    xx

  10. Just started following you. Love the affirmations! look forward to reading Crazy Sexy Kitchen

  11. Desiree says:

Ease….well, I am gonna start by at least saying “I am at ease”. I feel some instant healing by just saying that.
Let’s see….I will keep my phone off for my 45 min walk. I will practice smiling at strangers. I will be ok with my less interesting days and not ruminate about all the “woulda/coulda/shoulda’s”.
I want to simply be in a constant effort of BEING with WHATEVER the moment/day/week – IS.
    And…read more!!!!

  12. Amelia says:

    Thank you!

Happy New Year Kris – and all others reading this!

Thank you thank you thank you for everything you’re putting out there – since discovering Crazy Sexy Diet on a book table about two years ago my life has changed so much! I never thought I would become a Vegan, and now feel so much better, also knowing I’m doing something for the health of the planet and good for the animals!

While there still are areas in my life I’m struggling with, my life (and my boyfriends with it) has improved so greatly!
And the motto ease might just be the perfect motto for me, too.
    Sending you lots of love!

  22. Susan says:

    Kris,
Thank you for the affirmations. I’m always encouraged and interested in your postings. I first learned of you through the Crazy Sexy Cancer video that the universe put in front of me. At a time when I was going through my own issues with cancer, you were a great source of how to make my life healthy, more focus and meaningful for me. Ease is a great word for the New Year. Love you, girl. Happy New Year! May it be a happy and healthy one for all!

  23. Mary Jo says:

Thanks, Kris! The last photo affirmation reminded me of this: Remember?

Come on and Ease on down the road, Come on and Ease on Down the road, Don’t let your mind carry nothing that might be a load, Come on and Ease on Down the Road.
    (from the Wiz)

    Yeah!!

Have a beautiful New Year to you and Brian!

  27. Dana says:

Wow, Kris! You literally took the word right out of my mouth– “Ease” is my word for 2014, too! Thanks so much for being such a light in this world. It’s really inspiring to see people like you living words like “ease” by example, not just adorning themselves in the concept like a pretty jewel. I wish you all the best for 2014 and look forward to seeing what else unfolds at kriscarr.com throughout the new year!

  28. Susan says:

I think “ease” has become my favorite word.

  29. Lara says:

I love that “ease”. My goal for 2014 is to love you where you are at. I think that actually means I’m loving me. Thank you Kris. You are such a blessing and beautiful gift. I watched your Super Soul Sunday, you have such a beautiful voice and I just felt tears when you shared how your beauty marks have shrunk. Your my age and we kind of look alike : ) I made BIG life changes 12 years ago… and thanks to God’s Grace have continued to grow and change. Thank you for sharing all that you share. Happy New Year!!

    • Lara says:

I actually meant love others where they are at. I’m not some crazy fan… I mean I am a fan and I’m a little crazy, but not stalkish crazy…sorry. guess I better just shut up.

  30. g says:

Dearest Kris – Thank you for the printout of the affirmations. They will be posted on my refrigerator where I can see them daily. I’m always looking for positive messages…keep them coming! I am taking a cue from you for 2014 with regard to Ease. I am going to be easy with myself. I am harder on myself than anyone else could ever be. I am going to get out of my own way and move forward with ease and grace. Another great message from you this year. I appreciate who you are and what you share. Thank you always! Happy New Year!!! Susie

    P.S. Love love love Buddy!!!!

    Dear Kris,

I found you randomly on TLC on a Saturday morning…your story uplifted me immediately. You now smile everyday at me from my kitchen counter as I have crazy sexy kitchen in plain sight for a gentle reminder to be more green with my eating……and life choices.

I am grateful for your spirit, creative writing, and immense love for animals.

I loved this post….ease. That’s the perfect intention and feeling for 2014.

    Xoxo

  36. It is funny how things come full circle. This time last year I was so busy trying to cook my way through your cookbook, Crazy Sexy Kitchen. I never really knew why I was so motivated to doing this? I figured at the time it was because I was a huge fan trying to show my appreciation. It was really fun most of the time, and it was a cool adventure! Now though I see the bigger picture… We recently found out that my youngest son has some serious food allergies. He was rushed to the hospital a few weeks ago. He is doing much better now thank God! Well, this meant I needed to be way more diligent with food labels, and also when I cooked. Cooking my way through the cookbook gave me the knowledge and skills to cook with different ingredients. It was if I had gone to cooking boot camp and was prepped for this. Although I was totally stressed about my son, I was confident we were going to figure things out quite quickly in the kitchen. So I just wanted to express my gratitude for motivating me to learn how to cook! Happy New Year! xo

  37. Galit says:

Thanks for the wonderful affirmations, going to post them on my mirror!

    Good Morning, Kris!

You brighten my day with your wisdom, insight, humor, joy!, recipes (yum!), suggestions, honesty and the way you pack it in love for all of us.

As I don’t get on Facebook, I am so grateful you shared these affirmations. This year is one of more “practice” :)……living in mindfulness and intention, recognizing our Oneness.
I am unplugging from electronics 2 days each week. Funny, I used the word “ease” in my written mission statement for 2014. 🙂

Each day is one of gratitude. Circumstances change, choice allows my gratitude to remain steadfast! 🙂

With much love and gratitude, Kris. Happy, healthy, sacred new year!
    Diana

  40. Cassie says:

After a fitful day a few weeks ago, I knew I needed a reminder to help me make decisions that would lead me to ease and abundance. I’ve been reminding myself every day (thanks to my trusty alarm clock) to keep it simple. For some reason, those little words ground me, bring me back to me, and throw the drama out the door.

Happy New Year’s! I always cherish your words and blogs! You rock!

  41. Jenn says:

I love the affirmations! Thank you!!

  42. Alex says:

Thank you Kris. My path to ease will be to set down and finally walk away from “feeling bad.” It is a useless occupation that I hope no one spots on the road and picks up!

For me, 2014 will be all about staying present and dropping the noodling mind. it will be about joy, peace, contentment, kindness, sharing, and playing larger than ever. I’ve started a website and a cartoon that brings me so much fulfillment. The coming year will see several children’s books and perhaps a bit of mindfulness coaching. I am excited to begin with ease and feeling good!

My wish is the same for you and your community!

    In lovingkindness,
    Alex @kindnessville.com

  43. Jeannie says:

Ease is synonymous with peace. When I thoughtfully make good and healthy decisions for myself, the rest of my life falls into place- easily. Thank you for reinforcing this for me:) happy and healthy new year!!! Xo

  44. Trish says:

Dearest Kris – I am one of those who saw the TLC documentary (and bought my very own copy:-) lo those many years ago. It touched my heart. You are an incredible, beautiful inspiration to countless people, sweet woman. May God continue to richly bless you for all that you do in service to others. You are a true gift to this planet.

    Namaste,
    Trish

  45. Eileen says:

Love the affirmations just what I needed this am feeling very scattered and ungrounded luv you!

  46. Janet Boyer says:

I plan on only being online 2 days a week–and writing blog posts, doing Tarot readings and other work when OFFline. That will definitely help give me more ease (and focus) for 2014. :o)

  47. Aaaaah resolutions. We’ve come to that again.
I wrote about why resolutions don’t work last year.

As a goal oriented person,it has been a fun challenge to look at goals & dreams in a new light. So instead, I’ve been exploring (throughout the year, not just on december 31st) how I wanna feel, who I want be and most of all the qualities that bring me most energy & lightness.

These qualities or essence are fuel for my soul and make every decision (even goal oriented ones) in total alignment with my Spirit and make everything I do blessed with sexy fairy dust 🙂

This year? I want wonderful ease, gracefulness, laughter, juicy creativity and to feel divinely feminine.

Happy Delicious Crazy Sexy Healthy Abundant Love-filled New Year Kris!
    XO
