Hiya Gorgeous!
This week I have something extra special for you. I don’t want to ruin the surprise—but this is awe-inspiring, motivating and totally uplifting.
Here’s a hint: it’s all about heroes.
I don’t know about you, but I’ve got a big list of people I admire. People who make me think and feel and helped me heal. And most importantly, folks who inspire me to take action, in some way—from teachers, mentors, doctors, and activists, to friends and family members, and everyday people who I don’t know personally, but applaud from afar.
Heroes make our world a better place through their energy and actions. They’re the ones who shine a light on the areas of darkness that we’re often too afraid or unwilling to address.
And guess what? Heroes can be anyone—even our fur friends. In fact, I’ve known quite a few remarkable critters who’ve done more to change the world than we give them credit for.
So, last year I decided to share my inspiration with you by starting a love project on social media called the #HeroOfTheMonth. If you follow me on Instagram, Facebook, & Twitter, you’re probably familiar with it. If not, hop on board (I share lots of other valuable and fun stuff there, too)!
Anyway, the purpose of the #HeroOfTheMonth project was to get their amazing work seen by a wider audience. I’m so lucky to have such a big platform and want to share it!
Well, I thought it would be fun to do a round-up of all the heroes I chose, tell you a little something about their work and take it one step further by creating a little award for two spectacular winners. (it was gonna be one award, but it was too hard to pick, they’re all winners!)
So it would mean the world me if you join me in celebrating our winners. Hit play and get ready to be supercharged and super-inspired!
Here’s a roundup of ALL our wonderful 2017 Heroes!
Take a look at this list of ah-mazing humans, starting with our two winners. Follow them, support them, and let them inspire you!

Your turn: Is there a hero in your life that you’d like to shine a light on? Maybe it was your math teacher or the nurse who helped you through chemo. Whoever it is, give them a shout-out in the comments below. Let us know how much their actions meant to you. And while you’re at it, share this with them too.
Peace and inspiration,
My dog Molly is my hero. I’ve been sick and Molly doesnt leave my side even when playful papa is in the other room. She inspires me to not take life seriously and reminds me of what is important… the ones we love. Mollys love opens my heart even when I’m scared to love anything that deeply. Heros are courageously loving and that is my best friend Molly.
You are so lucky to have such a sweet, loving pup to stay right by your side. It’s amazing how they know when we need them and then they give us all the love they have to give and more. <3
Daphne Sheldrick from the David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust has been a hero of mine for years, so I’m so happy they made your list!
I also have to say that my sweet dog, Annie, who I lost just a month ago is a hero of mine. She taught me so much. She was mostly blind but that didn’t stop her. She would trot around outside without fear and if she bumped into something she just kept on going. She didn’t let her limitations or obstacles stop her from enjoying her life. And she had nothing but love in her heart.
I adopted Barsilinga from David Sheldrake. Amazing foundation. Sorry for your loss Annie. She sounds incredible. ❤️
Oh, that’s so great you adopted Barsilinga!
My heroes are my animal family…my two mustangs Peace and Beautiful WindDreamer…and my six kitties: Tink, Merc, Aria, Prieta, MoonStar, and Soleil. I’ve never been so proud of them for standing strong during my time of transition. I’m not with all of them physically right now but hope to be back with them soon because I believe in miracles and know God loves all of us and will bless us with a home where we will all be free once again. I love them and miss them… Blessings, rayanne
Sending you lots of love Rayanne. xo, kc
I don’t even know how you narrowed your list down to those two amazing women. Thanks for sharing Kris!
It wasn’t easy 🙂 xo, kc
My hero is a nurse who took extra time to help my daughter feel comfortable before a fine needle biopsy. She was about 12 at the time and was used to being treated in the adult section of the hospital. (Her type of cancer typically affects older adults, so she’s never treated in the pediatric unit.) Sensing her anxiety, her nurse gave her extra attention. He even drew all over her sheets with a sharpie to show her exactly would happen. My rule-following child thought his little act of “vandalism” was the craziest thing she’d ever seen. She laughed so hard and was able to relax about the upcoming procedure and what the results might mean. He probably prepped patients for biopsies so many times a day that it was mechanical and routine. However, on that morning, he paid attention and responded to the person in front of him, and that made all the difference.
What a beautiful story Elizabeth. He sounds like a true hero! xo, kc
Morning Kris… I loved this blog. It is, in my opinion, so important to recognize what other people are doing good in the world. I would like to give a big shout out for Nicole Di Paolo. She is the President of Paws 4 Survival, an organization in Boston that rescues animals from Puerto Rico. She has been the light that our stray animals have needed after Hurricane María and the fact that she comes all the way from Boston to rescue animals ONLY from Puerto Rico makes me admire her greatly. I hope you look into the organization’s amazing work and also that you keep doing these series of awards because as important as it is to do good is also to recognize who is doing it as well. Blessings to you and your team. You are a big inspiration!
Nicole’s work sounds outstanding. Our team will definitely check her out 🙂 Thank you for sharing Laura. xo, kc
Kris you’re amazing! You’re my hero!
Thanks, honey. You’re amazing! xo, kc
My husband is my hero! He recently retired from the military and started a new career. While preparing for this transition we found out I had breast cancer and a brain tumor! I also have a challenging a rewarding career supporting military and families that we are both very passionate about, so my husband supports me every day to take some of the load off and keep me healthy by waking up early to make us smoothies and juices, he comes home in the evening and cooks most of our plant based dinners and works around the house. He has been on board with me through all the changes and choices to detoxify our life’s. We are healthy and strong and living with a brain tumor, with no changes since Aug 2016!
Your husband is a hero! So amazing. Sending you lots of love dear Wendy! xo, kc
Sending love back to you Kris!
