Empowering Guidance on Cancer Remission (Video)

read all about it

Hi Sweet Friends,

Although I may not talk about this topic as much as I did a decade ago, it’s still a subject that’s very important to me—surviving cancer. A few years ago, I learned about Dr. Kelly Turner, Ph.D.’s book, Radical Remission: Surviving Cancer Against All Odds. After reading it cover to cover, I couldn’t wait to do this interview and share Kelly’s research with you all. Today, her words still ring true. Time and time again, I meet and read emails from readers who say this interview has changed their lives.

Kelly has dedicated her career to what she calls “radical remission” (although, I think her work is so universal that it should be called Radical Remission and Prevention!). The research she gathered is not only empowering to those facing a cancer diagnosis, it’s a gift to anyone who wants to lead a healthy, long life.

Watch my interview with Dr. Kelly Turner above or download it here and listen on-the-go. Note: To download the mp3 file, right click (or Ctrl+Click on a Mac) on the link and “Save Link As” to save it to your computer.

After analyzing 1,000 cases and doing over 200 direct, in-depth interviews, Dr. Turner’s biggest takeaway has been that healing is possible at any time. I want to be clear that, like me, Dr. Turner is not against Western medicine. She believes that every situation is different and that everybody needs a different healing plan tailored to their needs.

When I read Kelly’s New York Times best-selling book, Radical Remission, I couldn’t believe how much it aligned with the diet and lifestyle I’ve been writing about and practicing personally for the past decade. It’s so refreshing and encouraging to see these things deeply researched and documented by someone like Kelly. During this interview, we covered three of the nine principles outlined in her book. Keep in mind that this is not a step-by-step plan for healing cancer. Rather, Kelly’s nine principles are the common threads she discovered while researching people who had experienced radical remission.

3 (of 9!) Principles of Radical Remission

1. Radically changing your diet

Find out what to add and what to remove—I couldn’t agree more! Hint: Hello, plants!

2. Taking herbs and supplements

There’s no one-size-fits-all supplement plan but during our interview, Kelly shares the top three kinds of supplements people with radical remission commonly take. Remember, it’s important to find an integrative oncologist, integrative doctor or certified nutritionist (who has an integrative approach and has worked with cancer patients) to determine your supplement plan. Check out these resources: Institute for Functional Medicine and Society of Integrative Oncology.

3. Deepening your spiritual practice

Learn about the phenomenal power a daily spiritual practice, whether it’s a walk in nature, meditation or prayer (whatever floats your boat!), can have on your DNA. You may find that mindfulness and spiritual connection have more influence over your health than you ever could have imagined.

I really hope this interview inspired you, whether you’re a patient or someone who just wants to feel better and prevent chronic disease.

Kelly was also one of my amazing guests for the first-ever Healing Cancer World Summit. Using the results from this event, I compiled a modern-day guide for prevention and recovery to help you in your cancer journey that you can find here.

Your turn: What came up for you after listening to this interview? What were your takeaways?

Peace & radical research,

i saw your interview with Dr. Kelly Turner and although i suffer from something that is not cancer , i learned much that i may possibly use in dealing with what i suffer from, which is sarcoidosis . i have been living with this for six (6) years. shall find out at next week’s doctors appointment how well i am doing and if i need to change my activity level. i have changed my diet, walk at least 30 minutes a day, try to keep stress away from me, but we shall see what my doctor says. thanks for the wonderful
information you have imparted in your interview with Dr. Turner.
    sincerely, sandra

I am at the point the doctors says I am in remission, against all odds!
I am considering removing myself from the maintenance program, and have been looking for information like Dr. Kelly Turner’s! Thank you, thank you for all tour work in this area, Kris!

I enjoyed your interview. I have been fighting lymphoma cancer now for about eight years. I refused chemo and took alternate supplements and changed my diet instead. My last check up showed that the lymphoma is in remission so I’m thankful for what I’ve learned and done and for a praying family.
I have been taking RM10 now for the past eight years and even though I had lymphoma I didn’t get sick with colds or flues like the rest of family and friends. I also went on the grape diet right at the start for a forty day period. I’m also considering going back on it again because a few weeks ago I was diagnosed with now having prostate cancer. I see my specialist this week for fall up. I told him I want to start with graviola tea first even though he was recommending surgery. He has agreed to work with me and monitor my progress even though I didn’t take his recommendation. I know a number of people who were diagnosed after me and who did chemo and they are all gone now. So I will continue to fight and pray for healing.

Great interview really enjoyed watching this and couldn’t agree more about getting the message out to people who have not been directly effected by cancer.
I’m 33 and was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer last year and had to go through a regime of 5 chemos every week over a 16 week period. I’m happy to report that I am 7 months in the clear and feel the best I have ever felt after making changes to my diet and lifestyle. It took this eye opening experience for me to realize your health is your number 1 priority, and I’m committed to helping people realize this as well.
    Thanks Kris and Dr. Turner

  5. Great info ladies! Way to spread the word and educate!

    Very inspiring!

  7. Janice Baird says:

Used meditation throughout my entire treatment and went so deep on my first chemo, the nurse couldn’t wake me up and thought I was dead. My sister woke me up. Am still meditating everyday. The psychologist at the hospital said that was probably what saved me. I had 2 types of ovarian cancer and one tumor was the size of a grapefruit. Will share your message and your website with everyone I know. Thank you for seeing the need for this research and doing something about it.

    wow!! AMAZING INTERVIEW!
I am not a cancer patient but I am an enthusiastic reader of your blog and newsletters. This is the best video I have watched so far… thanks for sharing and taking care of us.
    I got the message…
Please, keep working and spreading the word.

    Hello Kris,

I really enjoyed the article and will probably pick up her book and I already found her on Facebook. I am not a vegan, but am a clean eater, no beef, who is sensitive to gluten, eggs and chicken, so I am careful with those. One statement you made isn’t really correct or fair. You said “only those that have had cancer have their shit together.” This is not so true. My brother had cancer 3 times and the 3rd time it came back with a vengeance. There are a lot of clean eaters in this world, many you know, that are not vegans and they do have their shit together.

I loved loved loved this interview, plus I learned a ton. The way you talk about wellness is so refreshing — we don’t need to take a stand against conventional medicine, but embrace all the tools available to live a healthy, happy life.

Would love to have a link to the study that shows the epigenetic effects of meditation after just 6 weeks. Please share.

Keep up the incredibly powerful and important work.

  11. Susan says:

Great interview! I passed this along to a dear friend who just finished intense chemo for the second time when her cancer recurred. She has already purchased the book and is considering many changes in her lifestyle! Thank the universe for Dr Kelly and Kris Carr!

  12. monique lindholm says:

Really, really good blog. Going to forward it to everyone. And I need this book as a cancer survivor hoping to stay in remission…so empowering. Thank you
    Monique

Thanks! I hope that MANY MANY MANY people listen to this video! It makes me happy when people who are in the science world “get it”. We holistic people are too often shrugged off as a bunch of voo doo fools when the real truth is that there is SOOO much power behind what we do.

It makes me happy when I see people recommend these healthy, holistic, empowering approaches rather than drugs which destroy our immune systems.

Cancer is all about letting go of what is NOT serving you and YES — that is different for everyone so thanks for putting all this great info out there! And of course — we could go really deep and talking about clearing unconscious limiting beliefs, but this was a GREAT info!
    THANKS!

  14. Joni says:

This is the best talk on healing and preventing cancer I have heard. I appreciate the integrative & holistic approach and the acknowledgment that there is no one size fits all cure, rather it’s based on each individual’s situation. I also appreciate that the use of western medicine was not condemned, but supported based on each person’s cancer cure needs. Looking forward to reading the book!

Kris – your brilliance continues to shine light on the world….thank you for what you continue to share with all of us. Dr Kelly Turner’s interview is a game changer. I am grateful for her beautiful mind, spirit and wisdom. What a wonderful human being she is. I’m ordering her book now 🙂

    With gratitude,
    Laureen

  16. Final take-away: My oncologist said he wished he could ‘bottle the energy I bring’. Energy=green drinks, meditation, and “steppin’ out of the mainstream”!

  17. Peggy says:

Loved video w.Dr Kelly Turner – recently diagnosed w.uterine cancer – am struggling w.modifying my intake structure /eating habits. 18. Moya says:

This was really good I don’t have cancer, but my mom has 2 different times and they said my chances are pretty good. But I did want to ask, with the supplements, how do we find out the ones that we would need or need to take? And were do we find these people to help us? We live in a small town? Can you give us a link to were we can find these I had gone off of all meds, and was told about a doctor that was willing to help you with (supplements from the health food store, that would go a long with any prescription’s if you had to), But after seeing him, he didn’t know anything about the things I got from the health food store, and he went right back to a prescription even when I said that wasn’t what I wanted I don’t know what to do or were to go from here? Help please, and thank you for this video!

  19. Grace says:

Love you both! Thank you for the work that you do, and for your authenticity and true approach to healing. It really is about being happy and healthy, and just being mindful about what you put into your body.
Love and peace. PS… Kris, love your blooper video with Lola & Buddy. LOL! Hope they’re doing well.
