Crazy Sexy Cancer Tips

Crazy Sexy Cancer Tips gathers the lessons learned and cancer tips offered from my journey, as well as the experiences of my cancer posse. Full-color photos accompany personal stories and candid revelations in this scrapbook of advice, warnings and resources for the cancer patient.

Crazy Sexy Cancer Tips covers everything from your changing social life, dating, sex, and appearance to essential health tips on how to boost your immune system. You’ll have recipes, medical and holistic resources, and information on young survivor support groups at your fingertips. The resulting cancer resource book is a warm, yet informative tool for any man or woman newly diagnosed with the disease and for those who love them.

When I was an actress and photographer, I thought I had a hangover, but a Jivamukti yoga class didn’t provide its usual kick-ass cure. A visit to my doctor confirmed that my “liver looked like Swiss cheese,” covered with cancerous tumors. I entered trench warfare (wearing cowboy boots into the MRI machine, no less). Cancer needed a makeover and I was just the gal to do it!

I began writing about and filming my journey, documenting my interactions with friends, doctors, alternative “quacks,” blind dates, and other women with cancer—sadly, a growing group. I compiled my cancer tips into a fun cancer resource book for those who want to navigate their wellness journey with humor and love.

Crazy Sexy Cancer Tips Praise

Kris Carr has done something extraordinary with this book: She has put cancer in its place. She has triumphed, and paved a path by which others can triumph too. She deserves our most heartfelt ‘bravo’.

Marianne Williamson

I read Crazy Sexy Cancer Tips cover to cover on a a flight from LA to NY. I laughed out loud, wept quietly, and most of all, marveled at the magic that is Kris Carr. If Deepak Chopra, What To Expect When You're Expecting, and Sex and the City had a love child, it would look just like Kris' Crazy Sexy Cancer Tips. It is sheer perfection for cancer 'cowgirls' and their loved ones—colorful, soulful and intimate.

Kris Carr’s book is an excellent resource filled with tips on how to not only survive but thrive ... The abundant information about life and living contained in this book will coach you in a way that will make you an empowered star performer and winner in the face of adversity.

Bernie Siegel, M.D.

Carr’s documentary, and her new book, Crazy Sexy Cancer Tips, may be the first girlfriend’s guide to living with cancer—a sign of the times really. More and more people are living with cancer, and Carr’s message is that they can live full lives and don’t have to be “defined” by the c-word.

Rebel with her cause. Carr’s story is a girl-finds-self-and-outs-cancer-in-its-place story. Even more, the self she found happened to be the type who pulls on a pair of cowboy boots, blazes a new trail in survivorship, and creates her own feisty brand of kick-cancer whoop-ass.

Hi, Kris! I am a Stage 4 NHL survivor. I found Crazy Sexy Cancer Tips on my own while browsing through a book store after my diagnosis. You rock! You were just what I needed, when I needed it. I was so very fortunate to run across your book. You were inspirational and everyone, every story and all the great advice in your book made me feel so much better about my situation. It was hell going through, it but I survived, and thanks to you, I was able to do it with some dignity and grace! Thanks so much! You're truly a blessing to many people. Thanks for doing all the hard work. I think of you often. Glad to see you doing well! Lots of love!

I was diagnosed with Breast Cancer on November 9th. I am 32. I was freaking out and decided to go Christmas shopping with my hubby the next day. We were in the bookstore, and I was looking at fitness books, thinking, "How can I stay fit through this", and nestled into a corner in the wrong section was Crazy Sexy Cancer. Kris, this book has saved me. I finished it last week and just got your documentary and basically will be purchasing everything you have written... Most likely, [I] will have to go through 52 weeks of specialized HER2 chemo. I have brought this book to every appointment and have told all of my doctors and young women in the waiting room about you and your book. It should be required waiting room material and/or suggested to young patients. You have made an experience that seemed hopeless a journey for me. You have inspired me, and I will not get down about this. Thank you for writing this book. It was fate, and the universe put your book in front of me when I needed it most. I know that living with cancer, I will never be the same, but your book has made me realize that I can make something great happen out of this. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
