Love List: Luscious Skin Care

March 30, 2011|35Comments|

Hi Radiant Queen,

From time to time I love to update my favorite organic beauty products. A few months ago I got the best gift ever! Annmarie Gianni sent me a slew of her healthy potions and lotions from her new skincare line. Ya know why I say it was “the best gift ever”?

One: Because her products blew my mind (not easy to do). Annmarie harnesses the power of Mother Nature in a bottle. Vazoom!

Two: Because her gift was unconditional. She didn’t ask me to do anything but “enjoy.” Annmarie and her husband, the fabulous Kevin Gianni, noticed how hard I was working promoting Crazy Sexy Diet. They were so proud of all I was doing to uplift the lives of others that they wanted me to enjoy a bit of pampering, no strings attached. Um, really? I was so touched!

Note: Lots of folks send me products for review. When I launched my periodic Love Lists, my mailbox exploded. As you all know, I only write about things I adore and use myself. Translation: You can’t buy more LOVE. When I tried Annmarie’s gems I immediately thought, holy shitake! I have to spread the word because this shit totally rocks! As a matter of fact, I love these products so much that I joined her affiliate program.

Sisters, if you’re looking for something new, give this chemical-free skincare line a whirl here. They’re an all-natural, organic blend between shaman magic, Medicine Woman wisdom and a potent herbalist cocktail, (Hey Bartender! I’ll definitely have another). As Annmarie says, “the line brings the ancient healing energies and awareness directly to you so that you may radiate your own natural beauty.”

Here are my favorites. I’ve been using them daily for about a month and my skin is less dry and more glowy. Also, my makeup doesn’t cake or get caught in my 40-ish creases as much as it did when I was using other cleansers and moisturizers. (UPDATE: after more than a year, I’m still head-over-heels in love with Annmarie’s line).

aloe herb cleanser

I love the Aloe-Herb Cleanser. It leaves my skin fresh, clean and hydrated. Plus it smells like heaven in the springtime.

I love the Neroli Toning Mist, which I apply after cleansing and before moisturizer. It smells like angels blowing air kisses.

I love the Herbal Facial Oil. After washing and misting my face, I apply 1-2 pumps of this oil. At first I thought it would make me breakout or look like a grease slick. Oh no, Mon Ami. My skin drinks it in like a nourishing oasis filled with antioxidant bliss. This oil may just be the fountain of youth!

I love the Anti-Aging Eye Cream. Who knows if it will keep the facial crows in check? I like to think it just might. It’s cooling, calming and totally rejuvenating. Filled with cucumbers, green tea, echinacea and something else I can’t pronounce.

I love the purifying mud mask. It tightens and tones my skin. It also makes me look like a warrior princess and it’s a terrific way to frighten the UPS guy.

I love love love the coconut body oil. My legs and the back of my arms love it too. So do my cracky elbows and heels.

Annmarie Gianni skincare

I’ve also tried the Ayurvedic facial scrub. It’s a like, not a love. I smelled like Indian food and got more up my nose than on my face. I probably need to give it another shot. Annmarie has lots of other groovy products to play with. Browse away, love lady!

Crazy Sexy Personal Beauty Tips

1. Drink ½ your body weight in ounces of purified water daily. If you’re a daily green juice goddess, you can drink less.

2. Eat a varied plant-based diet high in raw organic foods, green juices and green smoothies.

3. Dump animal products, fake foods, sodas, coffee and energy drinks.

4. Sweat your prayers and shake your ass-ets. Move your God Pod at least three to five times per week.

5. Rest. Sleep is something we never catch-up on. Try to get eight hours of uninterrupted slumber between the hours of 11 p.m. and 7 a.m.

6. Dry brush. Your skin is your largest organ. Keep it bright and unobstructed with daily dry brushing.

7. Positive re-programming. A healthy and glowy body isn’t just about what you eat and what you put on your skin; it’s also about addressing what’s eating you. Face what’s holding you back in an honest and authentic way. Move through your darkness into your brilliant light (so bright we need expensive sunglasses). Practice EFT, journaling, check-ups from the neck ups, meditation, and visualization and smile therapy. Look in the mirror each day and say, “You are gorgeous inside and out, upside and down.”

8. Spend time in Mother Nature and align your inner rhythm to hers. There’s a time and a season for growth, renewal, refuge and silence. In our fast-paced world we often go against our inner grain. Stop, drop and remember.

9. Go to church. And by church, I mean nature. Spend time outside in the sunshine, breathe deep, hug a tree, do sun salutes in the rain, sit and meditate like the Buddha, get dirt under your nails by planting a garden and feed the birds. Enlightenment will come.

Right now Annmarie has a special offer for YOU! When you buy one of her sample kits for $10, she’ll ship anywhere for F.R.E.E, PLUS send you a $10 coupon for a full-size product.

Peace and pretty,

Kris Carr

  2. I’ll definitely be bookmarking this site! Thank you, Kris, for the review and the fantastic beauty tips! I need to pick up my game, ha!

  3. I just finished your book and LOVED it!! I’m so excited to get more inspiration from your website, this article was awesome! THank you Kris!

  4. You are welcome ladies! I love sharing my fab finds. xo kc

  5. These products sound so divine! My skin is super duper sensitive – I wonder if they would work for me? I am always nervous about trying new products.

  6. It was so much fun to read your review of Gianni’s product line! If anything can make your skin “more glowy”, that’s saying A LOT!

Thanks also for the the beauty tips – which, in usual Crazy Sexy form, were much more about *creating* beauty by being more connected to Spirit.

Thanks again for a fun and inspiring article!

  7. OMG Kris that pic is priceless! Thanks for the smile and the info.
    love you
    deb

  8. Kris, I absolutely LOVE you girl!!!!!!

  9. Thanks so much for sharing. I was so greatful for your recommendation of Hugo Natural products in CSD, as well. Their body lotion/butter is absolutely luscious!
I was wondering if you could recommend a great brand of makeup as well?

  10. Does anyone know if these products (or any other organic/all natural products) have SPF in them? I can’t seem to find anything like that.

  11. Was curious, what brush do you recommend for you dry brushing?

  12. Thanks Kris for your great post!! I am so happy that you had so much fun with the products! I absolutely love your picture :-)

Theresa, we have 2 products that are great for sensitive skin. One is our coconut honey mask, so pure that it is good enough to eat! As well as our Herbal Facial Oil for normal skin (it has some yummy herbs in it that are great for sensitive skin types as well as the base oil being grapeseed oil…) If you like please contact me and I will have my team send you some samples to try.

Birgitte, we do ship overseas. But seeing that we are a small company we charge a bit extra for handeling fees :-( You can always order from our Eurpean Distributor -the shipping should cost less: http://www.monaturel.com or e-mail them at info@monaturel.com.

    May you always glow!
    Much Love,
    Annmarie Gianni

  13. Mish, Origins brand skin care is organic and does have moisturizers with SPF. Btw, I was so happy to find this website! Now it is a daily (well sometimes more than daily) break! Great info and awesome person behind it! I’m so happy there is a young cool woman talking about this stuff!! I was starting to think I would never find younger women into this like me. Now I just have to find some friends that are into these same topics!

  14. thanks stephanie i will check it out later I actually have to go to bloomies and they carry origins! :)
but this brand mentioned here looks great too, i am torn.

  15. These products do sound wonderful, but they are not yet listed on the Skin Deep Cosmetic Safety Database (http://www.cosmeticsdatabase.com/). I’ve made a policy to use only products that are listed, or that I have entered myself that score 0-2. It’s a hassle to enter products as a consumer, and I think that all companies who are really interested in being taken seriously as “organic” will list themselves and all of their products on the database..

  16. What is green goddess juice?

  17. How about makeup?

  18. Hey Kris!

I love the renegade health peeps! I have been following them for a while now and I love watching their videos and checking out their daily posts. I really enjoy reading your blog as well and I am guilty of owning a copy of your book! I am wondering if you know whether or not Anne Marie’s products are 1) vegan, 2) cruelty-free (not tested on animals) and 3) whether the ingredients listed in the products were tested on animals?

If all of these questions are a yes than I am definitely going to be hoping on the facial goody bandwagon (as long as my wallet permits)!

Thanks and keep up the helpful posts!

P.S. Do you have any recommendations for some good hair care products that follow a similar guideline?

  19. Has anyone tried any products from Mountain Rose Herbs?? They appear to have a great facial line

  20. I want to try this stuff but I live in Bermuda and can’t seem to oder off the website?!

    Hi Guys :)
Just a quick note, i used to work in skincare/cometics and Origins is actually not 100 percent organic- although plant based and a great product- for those with sensitive skin, a word of warning-even though it’s natural based skincare,i have seen the fragrance etc cause adverse skin reactions.
Kris i love your website! This skincare sounds awesome and I love what you do! Brings a smile to my face every time i visit :)

  23. Kris I LOVE you, your documentary, your book, and this advice. :) I trust your recommendation but I do have a couple questions for Annmarie (perhaps you can answer as well). I have sensitive skin, occasional black heads/white heads/acne, and sun spots from sun damage. Can I use the Anti-aging serum and oil as my moisturizure? My acne has almost gone away just switching to progucts with organic and free of chemical ingredients but I use MAC make-up and am sure this is not good for my skin,. Does anyone recommend a make-up line?

  24. I have a quick question for Annmarie…..I have sensitive, very pale skin (I’m a redhead), and get cystic pimples often (not a bunch at once, but one or two at a time in my t-zone). Should I order the Herbal Facial Oil for Normal-Combination skin or the one for Oily-Acne Prone skin? My skin itself isn’t oily, but I do get these pimples. Again, it’s not all over acne. Not sure which to try.

Thanks so much for posting these products Kris….they look great!

  25. Love everything on the website. I have a question on sunscreen. Any recommendations on effective, safe options. I live on the Texas gulf coast and I like to garden and marathon train. Need to protect my skin.

    • I also have the same question!! Any safe options?? I have had melanoma and so wear a lot of sunscreen but I worry about all the chemicals….

  26. Buyer beware– I ordered TWO sample kits, imagining that it was a good deal and a good way to try out a new line of skincare. Plus, who doesn’t want extra travel size toiletries, right? So I spent $20 thinking I would have a decent sampling of these products.

These arrived this week. I was surprised and then really angry at what arrived in the mail. The samples are SUPER DUPER tiny. You know those perfume samples you get in department stores? The tiny tubular vials? These are less than half that size. It’s like a dollhouse accessory. I put it up to my toothbrush and can report that the vial is the same size as the bristle part of my toothbrush in length, and skinnier in width. There is a dab of each cream (like two applications worth). I guess these are travel sized if you will be on a three day trip and want to use them up completely.

Also, the labeling looks totally homemade. There is no brand name or ingredient list or anything. Just little tiny vials with generic stickers on them. My stickers were pasted on crooked and one was peeling off, so it looks like someone made these in their garage. This company probably makes a killing selling these sample kits… there is no way I received even $4 in value… much less $20 worth of value. Sample kits are supposed to be a BARGAIN, not a RIP OFF, in my own opinion.

As far as the product, I tried them all (and basically used them up in two applications) and my only comment is that the fragrances are VERY strong. I don’t wear fragrance or perfume generally. When I used the oil lightly on my face before bed, my boyfriend kissed me good night then sniffed and said, “are you wearing perfume?” That was not the effect I want to have with my “natural” skin care products.

    Buyer beware…

  27. Hey Kris! I was just wondering if you are still using these products?? They look great!

  28. His looks are always funny. The maximum weight allowance is 60 kilos per traveler, excluding hand luggage.I was late for work yesterday.Long ago, people believed that the world was flat.I’m very proud of you.It looks very niceHe does everything without aim. This company is our regular customer. What happened to you? 32. Hola! I would love it if you could guide me in which products to get from Annmarie. I think I will love them but a little doubtful since I am on dermatologic ( and filled with chemical) products. my skin looks better than before, so I am still a little apprehensive. This is one of the few things I have not gone natural yet :)

So, here is a description of my skin: In the area between the years and the cheeks, I have some white patches (maybe candida?), and sun spots, and also some redness. My pores tend to be big, my T zone oily. Wrinkles are starting to show. I am 42 and like many women I am Interested in keeping my skin firm and radiant. I am not that concerned about wrinkles as I am by discolorations and pores.

If you have any feedback, I would appreciate it! xo Ivana
